Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are saved from a crippling bout of spring fever when Aunt Sally writes and asks them to come to visit the family in Arkansas. As they set out on the steamboat downriver, though, Tom and Huck find themselves in yet another whirlwind adventure tracking down criminals and stolen diamonds, all to save the life of their beloved Uncle Silas.

The final Tom and Huck novella that Mark Twain completed before his death, "Tom Sawyer, Detective" is a fast-paced mystery, full of the wry humor and wit for which Twain is noted.

It's a year or two after Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn's big adventure rafting down the Mississippi in the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This is a short novel about Huck and Tom going to visit Tom's aunt and uncle. Tom's uncle has been accused of a murder, but Tom is on the case to find the real killer. The plot of this little book reminds me a lot of Puddin'head Wilson. It's a fun little book, but not anywhere in the league of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, or The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Tom Sawyer Detective (Audible Audio Edition) Mark Twain Matt Armstrong Open Book Audio Books Reviews

These are just fantastic books. Tom Saywer is the first of these classics that I read to my kids and they absolutely loved it. The book itself is beautifully bound and seems like almost a collectors item. I found that they really did manage to capture all the best parts of the original and kept the pace going so the kids couldn't get enough. Well done....will collect all the Classic Start books!
Tom's growing up. Still looking out for his own self interest, but now concerned about others, too. Really liked this the best, but I won't give it away.
This book is the better sequel to the adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. In this book we see Huck and Tom revisiting Uncle Silas.
Now Jim stays at home, which is for the better. In Abroad, he and Tom argued too much, it was funny at first but got tiring. That is not to say this book is perfect but better.
I breezed through this book, and the majority of it seemed rather boring and unimportant, but it is the last chapter that makes all this reading worth it. Like all the other books, the ending is really weak.
This book good, I recommend reading this over Abroad. This is the last fully published book of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, and it is a very fitting end for very unforgettable characters.
I am a old man and have been a fan of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn since I was a teenager. I have read and enjoyed other Twain books but Tom and Huck have always been my favorites and I have laughed many times while reading of their adventures. This was my first time reading Tom Sawyer detective and it was good to follow these two characters a little further in their lives. It was a good and fast read, I recommend it to any Tom and Huck fans.
I read this book in my early teens and enjoyed it a lot. Over the last few months I have been very stressed and I wanted something that made me remember the happier times in my life. Also, I just started using the kindle app on my tablet and this was the perfect read. Now that I'm in my late 30s the adventures of Tom Sawyer were more amusing than fascinating and it was exactly what I needed to hit reset. I didn't want a self-help, melancholy book, just something to make me laugh. This hit the spot ^_^
Read multiple reviews that listed the best home school reading sets for children. In the top five book sets are the Companion Library set, My Bookhouse, Childrens Hour, and Journeys Through Book Land. This was my son's second long story to read cover to cover. It really helped him develop a love for reading which is my goal.
This is more or less just an extension of Huckleberry Finn with Huck and Tom involved in a murder case at Tom's Aunt Sally's place in Arkansas. Mark Twain penned this novella about ten years later but its setting is only a year or two after they break Jim out at Aunt Sally's.
This is a children's edition so I shouldn't have been too surprised certain offensive words beginning with 'N' are changed to 'Negroe'. I suppose this is better than one well intentioned publisher who raised a storm of controversy a couple years ago by changing the offending word in a new edition of Huckleberry Finn to 'slave'. But the word was considered normal in Twain's day and the terrible scourge of slavery won't be undone by editing classic literature.
This is a fun little story, told from Huck's perspective and certainly appropriate for young and old alike, even with (or perhaps because of?) the editing
